A convenient base for getting around all of Sicily

We’re right on Lake Pergusa, far from the road. A quiet position, yet at the same time extremely convenient. From here, you can explore Sicily without stress: no constant hotel changes, no endless hours in the car. Enna sits at the center of the island, which means having everything within easy reach. In about an hour, you can choose whether to head to the sea, visit an archaeological site, lose yourself in a village, or spend time in a city of art.

Enna

Enna is the highest city in Sicily and the one closest to us. It’s divided between Enna Alta, with its historic monuments, and Enna Bassa, more modern in character. Here you’ll find castles, towers, churches, and viewpoints that reveal a distinctive inland landscape and a commanding position over the surrounding territory.
It’s also the province with the largest number of lakes on the island, a detail that keeps the scenery varied. And then there’s Pergusa, our own district, with the lake and the racetrack, which over the years has hosted international motorsport events.

Piazza Armerina

Piazza Armerina is one of those destinations you plan to visit when staying in central Sicily, both because it’s close to Enna and because it has so much to offer. It’s known worldwide for the Villa Romana del Casale and its mosaics, a magnificent example of a late Imperial Roman villa. But it’s also worth spending time in the historic center, among palaces, churches, and ancient streets that rise and fall through the town.

Morgantina and Aidone

Not far from us are Morgantina and Aidone, two perfect stops for those who love archaeology and ancient history. Morgantina preserves the remains of an important Sicel and Greek city, with its agora, theater, and public areas. Aidone completes the visit with its museum and the atmosphere of a small town in the Sicilian interior. It’s an easy itinerary to organize and much appreciated by those who want to see a less crowded side of Sicily.

Caltagirone

Caltagirone is a stop we often recommend because it brings together history, craftsmanship, and everyday life. It’s known worldwide for its ceramics, but it’s not a “postcard” town: here, the artisan tradition is still alive and visible everywhere, from workshops to decorative details.
As you walk through the historic center, you’ll come across churches, palaces, and the famous staircase as a point of reference. It’s a visit well suited to a relaxed day, perhaps paired with a stop at one of the small spots in town.

Sperlinga

Sperlinga is one of those places that surprises you precisely because you don’t expect it. The village is built along a rocky cliff, and many of the homes are caves carved into the stone, used until relatively recent times. Walking through the town, you realize how the relationship between people and rock has shaped this place over time. Above it all stands the medieval castle, offering wide views over the surrounding landscape. It’s a perfect destination if you’re looking for something different from the classic art cities—easy to reach and far from the busiest routes.

Mount Etna and eastern Sicily

From our hotel, reaching Mount Etna is simple and convenient. In about an hour, you can arrive at the slopes of the volcano and choose the experience you prefer: a walk among the craters, a guided excursion, or a visit to local wineries, where wine is born from truly unique soils. From here, it’s also easy to move on to Catania, Taormina, and the entire Ionian coast, alternating nature, cities, and the sea.

The sea, in three directions

Planning a vacation in Enna also means being able to choose the sea every day. Starting from here, you can reach three different coastlines in similar travel times: the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian, and the southern coast. This lets you vary the experience greatly, choosing between wilder beaches, equipped shorelines, small seaside villages, or more lively resorts.
You can decide where to go the very same morning and return in the evening without facing long or stressful journeys. It’s one of the reasons many people choose to stay here as a base for exploring the island.
